Anyone can endure with grace a battle

Sure, everyone but me!
Wife reaches for empathy,
Animals confused by a mope.
Sons pester daughter for more help
To an old man fighting the bug!
Looking back on five days,
Seeing myself as a poor excuse for strength,
I know that I’m not ready for death,
At least a death with lots of pain.
